Submission: Table Top

I also really enjoyed doing this one. I had three ideas, but only the first one worked as I had planned. I was using my studio lights, and started off by just taking standard photos of the bottles lit from the front, but decided concentrating on the shape of the bottles would be more interesting. I set up one light with an umbrella to the left rear of the bottles and tried to backlit them. I thought spraying them with water would add an extra dimension, but not 100% sure that it worked.

Thats a wonderful abstract picture. Funny how we both have started using light. Didnt know you had some studio lights now :) I looked at this for a while and couldnt work it out. Only when you said bottles do I slightly understand. Thought it might have been curvy cutlery. Were the lights gelled? Also strange how we both went for the black background..

No, the lights weren't gelled. I didn't want any distractions so thought black would work best as the background, but maybe I'll also try it with white to see what happens. Backgrounds are great, until you have to put them away again!!

This looks so different at home rather than at work - my monitor must be configured differently.

Makes more sense now.

Glad you said that, as I printed this out via photobox, and it is just too dark. Think I must have my monitor configured wrong as well, as it looks fine on screen. Know anything about colour calibration?!
